North of Martley Road

West Worcester

Harris Strategic Land and partners are delighted to have exchanged contracts to promote approximately 180 acres of land to the west of Worcester on land to the north of the Martley Road.

Worcester itself has very limited potential for growth within its boundaries. As a result, the necessary growth of the City has to be accommodated beyond these boundaries. The directions of growth beyond Worcester’s boundaries are also constrained, limiting the locations where further development could be located beyond the City limits. The North of Worcester is constrained by Green Belt; the M5 motorway is located to the east; and to the south of the City is the River Teme and its associated floodplain.

In this context, the Martley Road site on the western side of Worcester represents a logical extension to the north of the allocated West of Worcester (Temple Laugherne) urban extension.

The site has the capability of delivering circa 1,500 dwellings, and will be promoted on this basis, through the current review of the South Worcestershire Development Plan.
